E50 - Q. Can I connect a Google Home Mini for voice control?

Answer:

Although you are not strictly controlling the E50 you can connect a Google Home Mini to the e50 via Bluetooth to enable you to play music via the Mini.

It is presumed that you have already downloaded Google Home and have setup the Mini within the app.

  1. Open the Google Home app while ensuring the the e50 is in standby with no other Bluetooth device connected to it.
  2. In the Google Home app, choose the Mini you want to setup
  3. This will open up the main volume control window on the Mini, choose the settings (cog) icon found top right
  4. Now scroll down to Device settings/Default speaker
  5. No tap on 'Pair Bluetooth speaker'
  6. The app will be scanning for available devices, 'Systemline E50' should be one of the devices
  7. Ensure you are in front of the e50, choose the 'Systemline E50' option, the blue LED above the Bluetooth symbol will start flashing, now press and keep pressed the 'Bluetooth' input symbol in the centre of the e50 keypad until the Blue LED stops flashing and goes solid.
  8. You should now find that 'Systemline E50' has a tick against it in the Google Home app.
  9. You should now be able to use a voice command with Google Mini such as 'Hey Google' 'Play Radio 1'
  10. After a short time, Radio 1 should be heard playing via the E50 system loudspeakers
