S7 - Q. Why is there no sound via the LIM when connected to TV using the digital optical input?

Answer:

The S7 LIM (Local Input Module) has been designed to allow connection of either a digital optical or analogue source component that is situated away from the central installation, this tends to be a TV, but can be used with other source equipment. If used with a TV or device capable of outputting a digital multi-channel audio signal, you must ensure the audio settings within that source component are set to PCM, if this is not set, you will hear nothing or a rushing static noise.  The LIM is not equipped with any form of DSP processing for multi-channel information.
